University Bands - Ensembles

Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble
is the premiere wind group at Belmont University. Membership is selected by audition and is comprised of the finest graduate and undergraduate woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians on campus. The ensemble prepares five concerts during each academic year and serves as a touring organization for the instrumental program. Repertoire includes chamber music, contemporary works for wind ensemble, and standard repertoire for concert band, allowing students to explore a myriad of artistic possibilities in various styles. During each concert season, theWind Ensemble features visiting conductors and composers as part of a comprehensive educational experience. Each year, membership is open to all students by auditions which take place at the beginning of the fall semester and again prior to the holiday break. Ensemble scholarships are available, and university-owned instruments are available for use. The Wind Ensemble rehearses Monday/Wednesday/Friday 1:00-1:50 PM and Tuesday/Thursday, 12:30-1:45 PM. The course (MUN 4900) is available for one hour of ensemble credit.

The Concert Band
is a university ensemble that studies excellent band literature and provides wind and percussion players of all majors with an artistic opportunity to perform in a concert ensemble. As well, the concert band serves as an outlet for vocal and instrumental music-education majors to study a secondary instrument and provides a lab setting for conducting students. No audition is required, but a short part-placement audition will be held to determine seating in the ensemble. The Concert Band meets in the fall and spring semesters on Monday and Friday from 3:00-4:20 PM in Belmont Heights Baptist Church and performs between two and four concerts annually. University-owned instruments are available for use. The course (MUN 4730.01) is available for one hour of credit.Bruin Blast

The Bruin Blast Pep Band
is Belmont University's high-energy athletic spirit organization. The band performs at all men's and women's home basketball games and selected events across the campus throughout the year. Membership is open to all Belmont students by short audition. Auditions are held the first week in September and consist of a few major scales and sight-reading. The band usually rehearses once per week mid-October and once in the spring semester. Members earn a stipend for each game and travel to the Atlantic Sun and NCAA basketball tournaments.
