Paula BressmanA passionate music educator, Paula Bressman joined the Belmont University School of Music as harp faculty in 2011 where she teaches both classical and commercial harp students and has helped initiate and develop the commercial harp major. She is a member of the faculty ensembles Belmont Camerata and Adelicia Trio (with colleagues Dr. Carolyn Treybig and Sarah Cote).

Ms. Bressman enjoys an active and varied performance career in both classical and popular music. She is principal harpist of Orchestra Kentucky Bowling Green and Gateway Chamber Orchestra (Clarksville, TN)  and plays regularly with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and Music City Hit-Makers (Nashville’s chart-topping songwriters). She has performed under the baton of world-renowned conductors including James Conlon, Leonard Slatkin, Peter Oundjian, and Giancarlo Guerrero and was a finalist in Miami’s New World Symphony 2011-2012.  Paula has also played on several albums, including the platinum-selling pianist Jim Brickman's 2011 album Romanza.

In 2011 Ms. Bressman co-founded the harp duo Beyond Pluck with Rachel Miller. The two arrange and perform a variety of genres, commission new works, and collaborate with filmmakers, drummers, dancers, visual artists, and scientists. Noteworthy projects include a rock dance show of live performances of many of the duo’s pop arrangements with the University of Cincinnati’s dance department in 2015, and an interview and performance as the guests on Classical Classroom, a radio show produced by Houston Public Media.  In the science and visual art world, the duo has presented multimedia and multidisciplinary programs with astronomer/filmmaker Dr. José Francisco Salgado of the nonprofit organization KV 265 in the United States and Puerto Rico. They have also worked with neuroscientists in a Music and the Brain Project, a partnership between KV 265 and the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Beyond Pluck enjoys teaching young harpists the power of creative collaboration and were guest artists and teachers at the 2015 Connecticut Valley Harp Intensive. The duo has been featured in Nashville Arts Magazine and Harp Column as well as numerous blogs. Beyond Pluck’s recording of Ms. Bressman’s arrangement of The Who’s Baba O’Riley has been played on radio stations nationwide.

Paula earned her Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music under the tutelage of Marian Shaffer. She received her Master of Music at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, studying with Gillian Benet Sella.
