"In my mind, the title 'Belmont University' just seemed like another star beyond my reach until a little less than a year ago, when that dream became closer and closer to my grasp. Through long talks and advice from friends currently enrolled, I began the process of long prayer and digging deeper into myself to find out what my heart's desires really were. After this process I looked deeper into Belmont to see if they could help me achieve my goals. Although I have many interests, I've been classically trained on the violin since I was nine years old and decided I wanted to explore other styles of the violin's character, or create a new one myself. I enjoy praise and worship music and like to hear traditional pieces made contemporary.
Belmont's commercial music program is a very unique program instilling the vital classical foundation and then teaching its students everything there is to know about improvisation. The student then has the tools to create their own style and be very versatile in the music industry. Besides choosing Belmont for its commercial music program, I like the fact that it is hands-on with the recording industry. I knew that I would have more of a chance of success just being so close to this world. I also was drawn to the smaller atmosphere, and the chance to experience more Christianity than in my years of public school. I felt at peace with my decision, and I am working hard and awaiting the next step to my future."
