Kodaly Faculty
Philip Tacka
- Associate Professor in the Department of Music at Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania
- Holds a Kodaly Diploma from both the Kodaly Center of America and the Kodaly Zoltan Zenepedagogial Intezet in Kecskemet, Hungary
- Completed post-doctoral studies in Theory, Pedagogy and Conducting while in Hungary
Micheal Houlahan
- Chair of the Music Department and Professor of Music Theory, Solfege, and Music Education at Millersville University in Pennsylvania
- Holds a Kodaly Diploma from Kodaly Institute in Hungary
- Awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for post-graduate studies in Hungary and the United States
Together Houlahan and Tacka have written the Kodaly entry in the millenium addition of Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. Their most recent book is From Sound to Symbol: Fundamentals of Music Theory. Additionally, they co-authored the Sound Thinking Series: Music for Sight-Singing and Ear Training (Volumes I and II), Developing Musical Literacy (Volumes I and II) and Zoltan Kodaly: A Guide to Research.
