McAfee Concert Hall Inaugural Season



New Concert Hall

Celebratory events are being presented in honor of the opening of Belmont University’s McAfee Concert Hall.  As seating in limited, the events will be ticketed. 

Free tickets for the October 6 and October 23 events will be available starting on September 10 at 10 a.m.

A Celebration of Beginnings

Saturday, October 6, 7:30 p.m.

This gala celebration concert is the formal opening of the new hall. The program will feature well-known classical selections performed by combined choral and instrumental ensembles in the School of Music.  *Culture and Arts Convocation Credit and MUG 2000 Credit (Student must have a free ticket in order to attend event).

A Celebration of Community

Tuesday, October 23, 7:30 p.m.

This performance by the Grammy-award winning Nashville Symphony Orchestra will welcome both the music community and the Nashville community into the new hall. Under the direction of Associate Conductor Kelly Corcoran, the Nashville Symphony will present a program sure to showcase the hall’s excellent acoustics. *Culture and Arts Convocation Credit and MUG 2000 Credit (Student must have a free ticket in order to attend event).

A Celebration of Unity

Friday, February 15, 7:30 p.m.

Internationally acclaimed Mezzo-Soprano Denyce Graves and various School of Music ensembles will present a concert celebrating the world’s diversity and bring an awareness of tolerance, peace and unity.  *Culture and Arts Convocation Credit and MUG 2000 Credit (Student must have a free ticket in order to attend event).

A Celebration of Learning

Monday, March 25, 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Richard Taruskin, internationally-renowned musicologist, music critic, and author of the multi-volume Oxford History of Western Music, will visit Belmont to talk about a lifetime spent studying and writing about the history of Russian music. This event will not be ticketed. *Culture and Arts Convocation Credit and MUG 2000 Credit.

A Celebration of Achievement

Saturday, April 20, 8:00 p.m.

The 24th Annual President’s Concert will honor the 2013 Applause Award recipient and feature a variety of musical styles performed by student ensembles. Tickets for this event will be sold through the Belmont Box Office this spring. Honoree to be announced.
