Process
Welcome to the School of Music's
Procedure for Admissions!
Follow the steps below to ensure
a smooth admissions process.
Step 1 - Apply to the University
- Complete the University Application
- Complete the School of Music Supplement which is part of the University application.
- Schedule your audition by choosing one of the audition dates listed on the School of Music Supplement
- When your application has been received and processed, you will receive an email confirming your choice of audition date.
Your audition is not officially scheduled until you receive a confirmation email sent from the Belmont University School of Music.
Step 2 - Print Audition Day Information
- Open and print the following PDF file - read carefully

- Open EVERY link in the document and print each page

Audition requirements for your principal performing area will be sent in the confirmation e-mail and should also be printed from Step 3 below..
Step 3 - Audition for the School of Music
- Choose one of the audition days listed on the School of Music Supplement
- Your audition date is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation email sent from the School of Music Admissions Office. This message will be sent to the email address listed on your application.
- Click Auditions to look at the specific requirements for your principle voice or instrument.
- Two (2) weeks before your audition, call the Belmont Admissions office at 1-800-563-6765 to see if your Admission file is complete.
- Come to Belmont on your selected audition date prepared to perform your audition and take the Basic Musicianship Test. Bring your one-page repertory list and your one-page music activities list to your audition.
Step 4 - Admission Decision
- No decision can be made by the University of the School of Music until the applicant's file is complete in the Office of Admissions and an audition has been completed in the School of Music.
- Once an admissions decision has been made, the applicant will be notified.
*The most common documents missing from an applicant's file are the Confidential Recommendation Form (to be completed by a music teacher), the Secondary School Report and Test Scores. Follow up to be sure these documents have been sent to the University.
Step 5 - Accept the Offer of Admission
- When you have made the decision to attend Belmont, return the Enrollment Confirmation Form which was included with your Admission Letter from the university and send it with your Enrollment Deposit check (payable to Belmont University)
- Sign up on the Belmont website to attend Towering Traditions Summer Orientation ( www.belmont.edu/tt/)
Step 6 - Attend Towering Traditions (Summer Orientation)
- Come to campus for the orientation session for which you registered.
- Be prepared to take the piano placement and theory placement tests.
- Meet with School of Music faculty and learn how to register for classes.
