Dr. Lillard (Dept of Psychology, University of VA) will examine the scientific studies that show how children (and adults) learn best; explain why traditional teaching approaches flounder; and offer an alternative method that works.

Belmont's Montessori teacher certification program offers Montessori teacher preparation. Students enrolled in the program earn certification in early childhood education (ages 2 -6) while also earning college credit that can be applied toward an undergraduate degree from Belmont.
- 30 credit hours of Montessori certification, including a one-year internship
- Comprehensive Exams
- Option to complete undergraduate degree
Montessori Certification w/ a Master of Arts in Teaching
Belmont's Montessori teacher certification program offers Montessori teacher preparation within the framework of a graduate level teaching degree. Students enrolled in the program earn Montessori certification in early childhood education (ages 2 -6) combined with the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree from Belmont University.
