Belmont University is pleased to announce the launch of a new major in Publishing housed within the Department of Media Studies for the fall of 2014.
The field of publishing is rapidly changing as the 21st Century has redefined the industry through web, social media and mobile technologies. The current market shows many opportunities in the field of publishing for students interested in careers in:

- Book Publishing

- Literary Agent
- Literary Scout
- Digital Communications
Currently there are no other undergraduate programs in the nation for publishing, therefore students enrolled in this program will have the unique opportunity to receive a solid foundation in the field, which is crucial in the changing market. Nashville is the second largest publishing market in the country and Belmont’s relationship with the Nashville business community will offer numerous advantages to students enrolled in the program including beneficial internships, exposure to industry leaders and access to cutting edge innovations that will help shape the direction of the industry. For students wanting to gain experience outside of Nashville, they can take advantage of studying at Belmont East, Belmont University’s satellite campus in New York City, which is the number one market for the publishing industry.
The curriculum for this program was designed in consultation with leaders in the field of publishing. Thus, students will receive the kind of specialized training that will help launch their career and equip them in ways entry-level job candidates have not experienced before. Additionally, students will benefit from Belmont’s state-of-the-art facilities and computer labs equipped with both Mac and PC platforms with the most up-to-date publishing software.
