Rich Tiner

Dr. Rich Tiner, a long-time radio broadcaster, media executive, and educator, is the director of Belmont’s Mass Communication program. Considered one of the “pioneers” of Contemporary Christian Music radio, Rich began his career in Houston, Texas at KFMK-FM, one of the very first radio stations to program Contemporary Christian Music full-time. After several years as an air personality, his career path led him into programming, sales, and management--and ultimately into station ownership.

Before coming to Belmont, Rich was Vice President of Operations and Programming for the Nashville-based Morningstar Radio Network. For several years, he served as host of the nationally syndicated radio show Music City Sunday with Rich and Famous, which featured a recording artist co-host each week. Rich also spent several years on the faculty at Eastern Washington University.

Dr. Tiner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and Music from Gulf-Coast Bible College; a Master of Science in Communication from Eastern Washington University; and the Doctor of Philosophy in Communication Studies from Regent University. His teaching specialties at Belmont include Media Theory and Research; Media Management and Sales; and Mass Media & Society. Rich also serves as Belmont’s Faculty Athletics Representative.
