Pam Parry
Pam Parry joined the Belmont faculty in the fall of 2001,
and she teaches journalism and public relations courses. She also
started the Public Relations Society of Belmont. Before entering
teaching, Parry was an award-winning journalist who covered sports,
religion, Congress, the U.S. Supreme Court, the White House, the
environment and business, as well as working as a public relations
practitioner.
She earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia and her master's degree in journalism and public affairs from The American University in Washington, D.C. She also holds a seminary degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo.
She's written two books, TV scripts for the nationally syndicated 'The McLaughlin Group' and contributed freelance columns for The Baltimore Sun. Her most memorable news stories include roundtable interview sessions with Bill Clinton, Thurgood Marshall's retirement from the bench, the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings, Boris Yeltsin's first address before Congress, Bill Clinton's inauguration and several State of the Union addresses by Clinton and the first President George Bush. Her reporting duties also have taken her to Rwanda, Argentina, Japan and South Africa.
Before coming to Belmont, Parry also taught at American University, George Washington University's Center for Career Education and Taylor University in Upland, Ind.
