Stephan Foust’s career in journalism and mass communication spans four decades. As a television news producer and manager, Foust has produced award-winning #1-rated newscasts in Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, and Georgia, while also leading the team that was selected as Georgia’s outstanding news operation by the state Associated Press.

 

Foust’s field work as a producer and photographer in news and sports has been seen on ABC, CBS, ESPN, the History Channel, and the Discovery Channel.  With his wife, Karen, he is also the co-author of two award-winning educational/instructional music books on rock and blues.

 

As a recognized media consultant, Foust has advised national leaders in the automotive and air transportation industries, law enforcement, and three Olympic medal winners. He has also served as Director of Communications at Nashville International Airport.

 

Since turning to teaching full-time, Foust has spearheaded the Virtual News Network (VNN), the joint Belmont University/MTSU student news operation that was created for the Greater Nashville Homeland Security District 5 Emergency Preparedness Challenge.

 

Foust began his collegiate teaching career at Middle Tennessee State University before coming to Belmont in 2007. He currently teaches undergraduate-level courses in broadcast news writing, reporting, producing, and anchoring with a focus on convergence as part of the Belmont University New Century Journalism Program.
