New Century Journalism Curriculum
Major
The New Century Journalism major requires 48 hours of study. In order to complete the coursework, you are expected to take two journalism classes each semester you attend Belmont. Another option is to take credits during the summer. Be aware of the number of hours completed. You will take 16 classes worth 3 credits each in order to earn 48 hours. Note: in order to have 16 hours, you will either have an extra credit hour for a lab with a science or foreign language course OR add a one-hour wellness course.
Minor
You may have a minor and graduate in four years. The minor will need to stem from your general education classes in order to make that possibility a reality. In other words, say you choose to take two political science classes as part of your general education requirement. Those courses will count toward a minor in political science. Most minors are 18-21 credit hours.
Bachelor of Arts
If you decide to earn a B.A. degree you will be required to take two, 2000-level foreign language courses and fewer science courses (7-8 credit hours).

Here is a sample plan of study for a student seeking a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. Your general education requirement is 53-55 credit hours in a variety of subjects including mathematics, religion, wellness, social science, sciences, fine arts, etc.
