New Century Journalism

New Journalism for a New World!

Changes in the world of journalism are imminent. Journalists of the 21st century - indeed storytelling itself - will adapt to the behaviors of multi-media audiences -- print, broadcast, digital cable and the Internet.

To prepare our students for the rigors of tomorrow's journalism, Belmont's New Century Journalism Program brings a new brand of journalistic training to the university level.

Technologies and practice will focus on journalists working with image, sound and text, yet remain rooted in the traditional values of fairness, objectivity and respect for the audience. We provide state-of-the-art technology with an ethics-across-the-curriculum mission.

Graduates of our program will understand the literacies and needs of today's sophisticated audiences at all these levels, and be trained in the technologies and practices of existing and new media.
