Mary Goodloe, Ph.D.
I grew up in the Nashville area and I received my B.A. in mathematics from Rhodes College in Memphis. After my undergraduate studies I began my career at Buckman Laboratories, an international company headquartered in Memphis. I initially conducted strategic analysis for the company, and I later led the strategic planning, human resources, and legal departments. During this time I earned my M.B.A from the University of Memphis. Although I had a great job, I always had a strong interest in teaching at the college level. I eventually took the drastic step of quitting my job and attending graduate school full time. I went to the University of Kentucky where I received my M.A. and Ph.D. in mathematics. My area of research was complex analysis, specifically Hadamard products of harmonic functions. I came to Belmont University in 2001 and have been chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science since 2004. I enjoy teaching a variety of courses including Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning, Mathematical Inquiry, Quantitative Methods, Calculus and Introduction to Analysis.
When I am not teaching I enjoy reading fiction, looking after my two cats, and being involved at First Presbyterian of Nashville.
I'd like to contact Dr. Goodloe.
