Kay Geving, M.S.
Upon graduation from Belmont in 1982 with a B.S. in Mathematics, I accepted a four-year commission into the Navy to teach Mathematics, Chemistry, Materials, and Radiological Fundamentals at the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School. I was then selected to fill a position in Crystal City, VA as a Naval Reactors Security Project Engineer. After meeting and marrying my husband, a Marine Corps officer, we moved to Okinawa, Japan for 3 years where, while completing an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Troy State University, I taught Math and Science at a Missionary school, GED courses at an Air Force Base, and Algebra for the University of Maryland. We then moved to Oklahoma City, where I taught and received an M.S. in Mathematics at the University of Oklahoma. Since moving back to Tennessee, I have taught four years for Columbia State and, since 2002 (part-time at first), for Belmont University. I am currently working on a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Sciences at MTSU. I mostly enjoy teaching courses that allow me to demonstrate to students the practical applications of mathematics. I also enjoy reading crime mysteries, jogging, and playing piano. My husband and I, along with our two children and dog, “Buddy,” currently live in Spring Hill.
