Joyce Blair Crowell, Ph.D.

joycecrowell

I earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Eastern Kentucky University, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Vanderbilt University.

I have taught at Belmont University since 1988.   My fields of interest within Computer Science are data structures, programming languages and error correcting codes.   In addition to teaching Programming II, Data Structures, Principles of Programming Languages and Introduction to Computer Science, I often teach Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning.  I have been involved in the Honors Program at Belmont - both tutoring students and serving as Director of the Program - and in leadership for BURS – the Belmont Undergraduate Research Symposium.

My principal interests outside of academics revolve around my family, my husband and daughter.   I love to read, especially fiction, but not science fiction.   I am an active member of Vine Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and have served the church in leadership locally, regionally and denominationally.  One of the best parts of teaching at Belmont University is the interaction with our interesting faculty.   I socialize with groups of them at every opportunity.

I would like to contact Dr. Crowell.
