Andy Miller, Ph.D.

I have been a member of the Belmont mathematics and computer science faculty since 2003.  I have a B.A. in mathematics and physics (with computer science and philosophy minors) from Wartburg College (IA) and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.  My dissertation research is in the field of hyperbolic dynamical systems. I am also interested in the application of dynamical systems and differential equations to mathematical biology and in the study of combinatorial games.

For the past few years I have been faculty co-advisor of our student chapters of the Mathematical Association of America and the Association for Computing Machinery and faculty advisor of our student Habitat for Humanity group.

Outside of school I enjoy singing in the choir at Belmont United Methodist Church, running (all distances, from 5K to marathon), and reading, when I have the time.  I chose to study mathematics because I find it fun and fascinating, so I also have fun by keeping up with my discipline and solving puzzles and riddles of all kinds.

I'd like to contact Dr. Miller.
