Prior to joining Belmont University College of Law, Professor Brewer was a senior lecturer in finance and business law at the University of Westminster in London, England. 

Previously, Professor Brewer was a senior associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, LLP in New York and Frankfurt, Germany, working in the areas of capital markets and corporate law; a senior associate at Clifford Chance in Frankfurt working in the areas of capital markets and banking law; and an associate at Linklaters in London working in the area of capital markets law.  He has served as an associate professor in the College of Business Administration at Belmont University as well as a guest lecturer at the Goethe University in Frankfurt.

Professor Brewer has been named a Truman Scholar in the U.S., a Rotary Scholar in Canada, and a Robert Bosch Fellow in Germany. He received a DAAD (German Academic Exchange) Scholarship in Germany and an Overseas Research Students Award in the U.K. He is a member in good standing of the Bar of the State of New York and a guest professor at the University of Lucerne in Switzerland.
