Jo Ellen Bennett
As a student in the Honors program at Belmont University my
desire to question, to learn and to discover has been fostered
and challenged in a nurturing Christian environment. The honors
curriculum challenged my ideals and worldview, helping me to
explore and grow.
During my time here at Belmont, I have been blessed with the opportunity to learn about other cultures through medical mission trips to regions such as Haiti, Guatemala, the Appalachian Mountains and Nicaragua.
As a senior Biology major/ Chemistry minor, my desire to discover was met with opportunity to do my senior thesis on a topic, which is of great interest to me, the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The best thing about my research is that it allows me to integrate cell culture techniques, gel electrophoresis, western blotting and analysis into one comprehensive and cutting edge endeavor.
