Center for Community Health
and Health Equity
The Center for Community Health and Health Equity, established in 2008 with an initial investment from the Department of Health and Human Services, focuses the educational resources of Belmont University on improving the public's health by advancing health policy through research, public service, community partnerships, and education. The Center looks to become a premier source of health policy information and promising practices and is committed to promoting healthy communities and serving as a center for excellence in health equity.
The Center resides in the Gordon E. Inman College of Health Sciences & Nursing to facilitate a collaborative approach with faculty and students in the College, bringing them and other educators from Belmont together with legislators, practitioners, and health leaders to address primary concerns of the public’s health and social determinants of health in racial and ethnic communities.
The objectives of the Center are to improve effectiveness and strategies of various programs, evaluate health care infrastructures that create barriers to health equity and to develop and assess performance measurements and data systems in nonprofits delivering services.
