PRIMARY MEDICAL SERVICES

Common minor illnesses and injuries including, but not limited to:

  • Upper respiratory infections
  • Strep throat
  • Flu
  • Mononucleosis
  • Sinusitis
  • Ear infections
  • Bronchitis
  • Uncomplicated pneumonia
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Sprains
  • Minor Burns
  • Skin infections
  • Acne
  • Dressing changes
  • Suture removal

  • Allergy injections
  • Nebulizer treatment for asthma
  • Ear washing
  • Travel consults and vaccines
  • Routine immunizations, including flu
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Laboratory testing
  • Referral to specialists
  • Medical equipment (ice packs, crutches, ace wraps, ankle braces, etc.)

Immunizations available in the Belmont University Health Services Clinic:

  • Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis combination) - once in adulthood
  • Td (adult tetanus, diphtheria) - recommended every 10 years
  • Meningitis (Menactra) - two required
  • Hepatitis A - series of two, given 6 months apart for lifetime immunity
  • Hepatitis B - series of three, given over 6 months for lifetime immunity
  • MMR - series of two
  • Polio injectable
  • Typhoid - injectable is good for ~2-3 years
  • PPD (TB skin test) - screening recommended for all incoming health science and international students, including those who have lived overseas in last 6 months.
