A group of three current MSN students and five MSN alumnae submitted an abstract to the Southern Nursing Research Society's (SNRS) 17th annual meeting. Entitled 'Initial Perceptions of Quality of Life in Assisted Living', the abstract was based on the students' work in 2002 in the MSN program's research sequence. Cathy Dunn, BSN, Ericka Fuller, MSN, Linda Holman, MSN, Dawn James, MSN, Ashlea Lamberth, MSN, Stacy Lane, BSN, Lynne Medley, MSN, and Christina Savage, BSN all contributed to the abstract, which was selected for inclusion in the graduate student poster competition at the conference.
Students Cathy Dunn, Stacy Lane, and Christina Savage presented the poster at the Orlando, Florida meeting in February 2003. Course instructors Mrs. Sheron Salyer and Dr. Sharon Dowdy served as faculty advisors for the abstract and presentation. The poster was entered in the graduate student juried competition with awards given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The competition consisted of 184 posters, many of which were submitted by students in nursing doctoral programs. All posters were judged on ten items, including the merit and quality of the research performed.
Our Belmont students' poster won 2nd place in this prestigious competition! Congratulations to all the students and their faculty advisors!
