Teacher Certification Programs

Teacher Education With Certification Belmont University's School of Education offers graduate level and post-baccalaureate programs leading to teacher certification and Tennessee State licensure.

Specially designed for those who are interested in a change of career to teaching, our flexible formats allow you to complete your Master of Arts in Teaching degree part-time, full-time or through our one year Teacher Internship program.

If you have completed an undergraduate degree and wish to obtain State licensure only, our Post-Baccalaureate Licensure program allows you to complete coursework that meets the minimum standard for licensure by the State of Tennessee.

Licensure and Accreditation
When you are admitted to a teacher certification program, you will receive individualized advising to determine the exact number and sequence of courses that will be required for completion of your program and area of licensure.

Licensure Areas:
K-12 Visual Arts, Vocal/General Music, Instrumental Music, Theatre and Drama
PreK-12 ESL (English as a Second Language)
PreK-3 Emphasis in Early Childhood Education
K-6 Emphasis in Elementary Education
Middle Grades 4-8 Emphasis in Middle School Education

Secondary
7-12

Licensure available in the following areas: Biology, Chemistry, Speech Communication, English, French, German, History, Latin, Mathematics, Physics, Government (Political Science), and Spanish 
(with an undergraduate major in the subject you want to teach)

9-12 Licensure available in High School only for Psychology and Sociology

The educational programs at Belmont fulfill the Tennessee state licensure regulations instituted by the Tennessee State Department of Education.
