Dr. Lauren Lunsford is an associate professor of literacy and joined the Belmont faculty in 2006. She earned her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Special Education at Vanderbilt University and has worked with students at the elementary, middle and high school level. Dr. Lunsford taught at the kindergarten level in Charleston, SC and at the elementary level in Atlanta, GA. She has also worked in a number of high school classrooms on a consulting basis and for research projects.
Before joining the Belmont faculty, Dr. Lunsford served as an assistant professor of special education at San Francisco State University teaching courses on students with reading disabilities and with behavioral disorders. Her research has centered around students with behavioral problems and reading problems, with a recent focus on the roles of motivation and self-efficacy in reading for students.
