Metro Nashville Urban Teacher Residency

We’re revolutionizing teacher training so that every student in Nashville will enjoy the benefits of a world-class education. We need your help.

In this intensive one-year program you will earn a Tennessee teaching license and a master’s degree in teaching. Your success in the program will earn you priority hiring in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) at the end of your residency year when you are ready to lead a classroom of your own.

Make a Difference

We are looking for people with undergraduate degrees who want to make a difference for students in Nashville classrooms. We want experts in math, science, or English who want to learn to teach in a practical, hands-on program that combines the best of university training with the real life experience of working in a classroom with an experienced mentor teacher.

If you have ever thought about teaching but weren’t sure how to get started, we encourage you to apply for the Metro Nashville Urban Teacher Residency @ Belmont. You will learn by sharing a classroom with an experienced teacher and be supported by rigorous and practical classes in teaching methods, student and family advocacy, and building strong relationships in the highly respected Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program at Belmont University.

The MNPS Mission

MNPS is committed to excellence in education for all students. The Metro Urban Teacher Residency @ Belmont capitalizes on this commitment and offers real world experience serving alongside veteran educators in hard to staff subjects and schools. Learning to teach in the MNPS environment prepares teachers to excel in their own classrooms beginning on day one.

The Belmont Difference
