Sustainable Purchasing

Belmont University is dedicated to responsible stewardship of the environment and our community in many of its procurement practices.

Belmont recognizes that by enhancing our efforts and supporting these types of purchases, we will have an impact on the environment and the community around us.

Belmont University will acquire goods and services that promote environmental stewardship; that supports small, women, minority, and veteran owned business; and that hold up with our university purchasing policy to be fiscally responsible.

This Sustainable purchasing policy will:

  1. Encourage the departments across campus to purchase recycled paper, and go paperless when applicable.
  2. Incorporate Green Seal/UL Environment or similar cleaning products where they are most effective.
  3. Support our Community by purchasing from local vendors, and Small, Minority, Women, and Veteran owned business. Our primary office supply company (Office Depot/Max) has a strong commitment to the Forest Stewardship Council certification.  By partnering with them, as well as our cleaning product providers, we are able to ensure that any green, recycled, minority owned products are present during the purchasing process.  Other university initiatives are also in place to promote and encourage these types of purchases across campus.
