General Policies
Below are listed many of the policies that guide the Convocation program. Other policies may be found in the Overview, Requirements, and FAQ links on the Convocation website, or in The Guide.
Student Responsibility
It is the responsibility of each student to keep track of his or
her own Convocation credits and to report any problems to the
Office of Student Affairs within a timely manner.
Official Schedule
The official list of Convocation programs is found on the Belmont
Convocation website. Any program not listed on that site is not an
official program, and students will not be given credit for those
programs not listed. This policy does not affect University College
students (pursuing a Liberal Studies, PBBA, or RN-BSN degree).
Cancelled Programs
In the event that a program is cancelled, the Office of Student
Affairs will make every effort to change the Convocation online
schedule. If a program is cancelled within 24 hours before its
schedule time, the contact person for that program or designee is
responsible for waiting at the program's location for 10
minutes and taking names of students who show up. Those students
will be given the credit for the program. Students arriving after
the allotted time will not be given credit.
Late Arrival
Students who arrive at a program after the first 10 minutes of the
program may be denied credit for the program.
Adjustments to Convocation File
Since students are responsible for tracking their Convocation
credits, students must notify the Office of Student Affairs if a
program has not been credited to their Convocation file within one
month of the date of that program. After that time, the student
will
not be given credit for that program.
Summer Convocation
Convocation programs are not scheduled during the summer months.
Students should plan to complete their requirements during the fall
or spring semesters before they plan to graduate. Students
may complete Community Service credits during the summer (or
any other vacation period).
Belmont West
No Convocation credits are offered through Belmont West. Student
should plan to complete their requirements before or after that
semester. Belmont West is not considered as a Study Abroad
Program.
Changing of Catalogs for Graduation
If students decide to change the catalog under which they are
graduating, they will be bound to the Convo requirements that
coincide with the catalog under which they are graduating.
