Mary Vaughn

Dr. Vaughn is Associate Dean for Administration for the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Communication Studies. She teaches courses in interpersonal communication and general education.
Her scholarly interests include instructional communication and power in interpersonal relationships. She has researched Montessori education, shelters for battered women, course evaluations, and most recently, service-learning. She has published her work in many venues including Communication Education and Communication Studies, and has presented numerous times at the national and regional levels. She also occasionally consults for clients in a variety of contexts including politics, entertainment and non-profits.
In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, traveling and exploring middle Tennessee's parks with her husband, Cliff, and children.
