Communication Studies Major
The Communication Studies major is great for student's seeking a generalist approach to communication. In our five core courses, you will develop your capabilities in speaking, writing, teamwork, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication. Beyond those, you'll have plenty of electives in and outside of the department. You'll work one-on-one with an advisor to design a program of study appropriate for your personal and career goals. Our alumni are ministers, politicians, teachers, full-time parents, business executives, entrepreneurs, public relations professionals, attorneys, professors, consultants, and best of all—well-rounded thinkers!
"When I was offered a job in banking, I was flattered but quickly admitted that I had no banking or finance experience. To my surprise, it wasn't finance experience they were looking for, but communication skills. The systems can be taught, but communication skills are more difficult to develop. Belmont's Communication Studies program helped me sharpen these skills and laid the foundation for my career."
