Admissions & Audition Information

Undergraduate Admissions to the School of Music

1. Apply to the University

Complete and submit the University application for undergraduate admission. After submitting the application, applicants will receive an email to register for a video audition.

Apply to Belmont

2. Audition for the School of Music

All programs in the School of Music require an audition. The audition determines admissibility into the School of Music, which is separate from the University admission decision. Once the student applies to the University, he or she will receive a video audition registration e-mail.

In response to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution and care, Belmont will only be offering auditions via video submission for the 2020-2021 audition cycle.  While we are disappointed that we cannot hold auditions in person, we will be offering several virtual opportunities to connect, with invitations forthcoming.  Regular weekday visits to campus are encouraged for you to visit and learn more about Belmont and the School of Music.  To learn more about our weekday visit program, visit here.

The Music Minor requires an audition. Students interested in the music minor can request information by e-mailing SOMauditions@belmont.edu

Video Audition Information

Video auditions are submitted via an online platform for auditions called Acceptd. Specific instructions for the video audition will be sent to the applicant's email address (as provided on the application) once the student applies to Belmont and registers for the video audition.

For audition requirements visit the Undergraduate Audition Requirements page.

Audition Requirements

  • Videos may be recorded using a phone, tablet, or computer. All video auditions must include audio and video. Professional video and audio recording technology is not needed.
  • Production effects, video and audio editing, and external microphones may not be used for video auditions.
  • We recommend students wear performance attire for the audition video.
  • Videos may be recorded in any location as long as background noise is minimized.
