School of Music Events

The College of Music and Performing Arts is committed to offering both a safe campus experience and performance opportunities for our students during the Coronavirus pandemic. Performances will be live streamed or presented through pre-recorded video. The performances will not be open to in-person audiences. The event schedule will continue to be announced as the semester progresses.

    Belmont Musical Theatre will premiere a streamed performance of "Songs for a New World" at 7:30 pm Central Time on November 7, 2020. "Songs for a New World" is, according to composer Jason Robert Brown, “about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back." It is a contemporary song cycle which weaves characters and history together, illuminating the timelessness of self-discovery.

    Tickets are on sale at this link. Single Tickets are $10, Family Tickets (multiple viewers) are $20.

    Though well known to organists and church choir members, composer Leo Sowerby, was a prolific composer in every genre except for opera and ballet.
