Rachel Rigsby, Ph.D.

Dr. Rachel Rigsby came to Belmont University in August, 2005. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University, where she studied the enzymology of microbial antibiotic resistance. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Physics, teaching organic chemistry and biochemistry. Research interests include discovery and characterization of novel organic compounds as well as the study of biochemical pathways. She is the advisor for Beta Chi, the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Honor Society, and co-advisor to Belmont's Eta Chapter of Alpha Chi, a national honor society.
