Admissions:

During the first two years at Belmont, students desiring a B.B.A. degree will be unofficially listed as pre-business and will be advised by College of Business faculty. After completing 64 semester hours, students who meet the standards for admission into the Undergraduate School of Business will be admitted as business students. All students must complete a minimum of 50% of their coursework in business courses at Belmont.

Students will be admitted as candidates for the Undergraduate School of Business Administration in the following manner:

  1. Completion of at least 51 semester hours of freshman and sophomore courses specified in "b" below, with an overall GPA of 2.0 and with at least a 2.0 GPA in all economics and accounting courses.

  2. The required freshman and sophomore courses must include the following:

    Language, Literature and Speech      15 hours
    Religion   6 hours
    Science and Mathematics   15 hours
    Information Systems Management   3 hours
    Economics   6 hours
    Accounting   6 hours

  3. Submission of ACT or SAT scores, high school transcript, and transcripts of all college and/or university work.

In general, the accounting curriculum prepares a student for the professional accounting examinations. However, the CPA examinations in Tennessee requires 150 semester hours. Undergraduate accounting majors may enroll in the 152-hour accounting program that provides both B.B.A. and Master of Accountancy degrees. Students interested in the 152-hour program and preparing for the CPA examination should consult with a member of the accounting faculty to ensure they meet the new requirements.
