Statement of Purpose

Belmont University is a student-centered institution dedicated to providing students from diverse backgrounds an academically challenging education in a Christian community.

  • Belmont University is student-centered. The university provides opportunities for the student to develop intellectually, spiritually, socially, and physically. Students are encouraged to explore leadership and interpersonal skills. Faculty members commit themselves to teaching as their first priority. All of Belmont University works to serve the best interest of the student.

  • Belmont University welcomes students from diverse backgrounds. Belmont serves students without discrimination on the basis of sex, race, age, or religion. By example Belmont faculty and staff encourage students to serve the larger society beyond the university.

Founded on a strong core of liberal arts and sciences, Belmont's traditional majors and professional programs enable students to think critically, to communicate effectively, to appreciate their heritage, and to develop cultural awareness.
