Message from the Dean
Welcome to the Belmont University College of Arts and Sciences!
Belmont’s vision is to be a leader among teaching universities where the best of liberal arts and professional education is brought together in a Christian community of learning and service. The College of Arts and Sciences exemplifies this vision. Our world-class faculty through teaching, advising, and interactions with students both inside and outside the classroom make a degree from Belmont’s College of Arts and Sciences excellent preparation for a fulfilling career and for students’ other important life goals.
We have small classes where students are able to develop close relationships with fellow students and professors. Our faculty are exceptional! As an example of this excellence, three of our professors are recipients of the Carnegie Foundation’s prestigious Tennessee College Professor of the Year Award. We emphasize “engaged learning” which includes independent undergraduate research; study abroad; local, national, and international internship opportunities; service learning; peer tutoring; and a variety of student leadership activities.
The College is divided into four schools, fourteen departments, and over fifty separate programs that encompass the wide-range of scholarly disciplines in the liberal arts and sciences. Please explore our web site and learn about our programs. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions about our programs and how they may fit in with your college goals.
