Career Assessments
The Office of Career Services offers several career-related assessments. These assessment inventories and instruments measure a person's personality type, interests, skills, values, and strengths as they relate to career choices. Please review the following list of assessment we offer:
Focus, an online Internet program, to help students and alumni assess their work related values, interests and skills, and to explore educational and career paths that match their values, interests and skills. (Offered exclusively to Belmont students and graduates at no additional cost).
Career Beam is a state-of-the-art program to help you determine what you want in your career and offeres the steps to achieve it. The program is a self-paced process for clarifying your career goals, developing professional resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews, and implementing a strategic career search using exercises and research tools to guide your process. (Offered exclusively to Belmont students and graduates at no additional cost).
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is the most widely used instrument for understanding personality differences. Learn about your own natural preferences to enhance your understanding of yourself and others. In thinking about career choices, learn about careers that may provide satisfaction and opportunities to express and use your personality type. $15
The Strong Interest Inventory is the most widely used measure of career interests in the world. Your responses on this instrument will define your interest patterns, which are then compared with the interest patterns of thousands of satisfied workers in a variety of occupations. These interest patterns point to potentially satisfying work environments and your similarity to these workers will suggest potentially satisfying work tasks and specific careers. $15
StrengthsFinder (part of the StrengthsQuest program) is an online assessment tool that reveals your five greatest areas of natural talent. Through discussions with your career counselor and further exercises, you will be led to discover unique and valuable insights into developing your talents into strengths and applying them in academics, careers, and life. $15
