Brandon, Management/Religion Double Major

Why did you decide to study business?

Basic business principles have a way of affecting many, if not all, aspects of life. As a person who is involved in leadership in many organizations, I knew that business management was the perfect major to refine my management and leadership skills.

Why did you decide to study business at Belmont?

From the first time I stepped foot on Belmont's campus, I knew that it was the place for me. Each time I visited, the people were always genuine everywhere I went. There was no doubt that by enrolling in Belmont's College of Business Administration, I was enrolling in a program that would be extremely dedicated to my success as an individual.

Has it been what you expected?

Belmont's business program has been more than what I expected. Each teacher has a strong commitment to education, and they never fail to use creative teaching methods to convey class materials. There is always a way that the things I have been taught come alive in the real world around me.

What have been some of your best Belmont College of Business experiences?

When I initially decided to pursue a double major, I was a little apprehensive about the way the two majors -- religion and business -- would intersect. The College of Business Administration and the School of Religion have offered countless opportunities for me to put my faith and business skills to practice. In the summer of 2007, I was among the first Belmont students to study abroad in Africa. While in Africa, I was offered the opportunity to see local business practices in a country fairly different than my own while also broadening my faith and understanding of Christianity through the eyes of another culture. It has been one of the most valuable experiences in my life thus far.

What do you want to do with your degree?

I plan to work in the corporate world for a short period of time and eventually pursue a master's and/or doctorate degree. With that, I hope to teach at the college level and have a positive impact on the lives of students in the same way the faculty at Belmont have had on my life.

Why would you recommend the program to others considering Belmont?

Belmont University is a place that is continually growing, and that is reflected across all colleges and programs. Even though the college has continued to grow during my time here, the faculty and staff have never treated me as another number. The faculty and staff have remained -- and I believe will forever remain -- committed to producing well-rounded individuals to affect the world through business; not to mention we've been ranked among the Top 100 business schools.
