Beta Alpha Psi

Membership in the Beta Alpha Psi honor society provides opportunities for continued growth in your chosen field. Members are required to be active participants.  Belmont's chapter expects each member or pledge to average 10 hours of participation per semester (measured in 50 minute increments).  Of those 10 hours,  a minimum of 3 hours should be in professional activities (attending speaker events or getting training) and a minimum of 3 hours should be in service activities. Both speakers and service opportunities are designed to enhance your education and experience.  Service activities may include tutoring, working in the accounting clinic, participating in the IRS program assisting with tax return preparation (VITA) or participating in community service.

Belmont’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, chartered in 2006, has been internationally recognized as a “Distinguished Chapter.”  This recognition signifies that the Lamda Nu chapter has “far exceeded the minimum requirements" of Beta Alpha Psi, and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism and leadership.

Basic membership requirements are as follows:

  • If you are a graduate student in The Massey School, then you qualify for membership.
  • If you are an undergraduate accounting, finance, or information systems management major, you must be academically qualified.  To be a pledge, requires a 3.0 GPA with more than 30 hours of credit.
  • To be a member, requires a 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in your major plus the completion of 60 or more hours.  In addition, undergraduate members normally must have one satisfactory pledge semester.
