Experiential Learning
Experiential Learning
'Experiential Learning' courses at Belmont
include an out-of-class component that involves the students in
'doing' an aspect of the course. These active
learning experiences complement the students' in-class
learning. Essentially, the 'doing' applies the
course of study, giving it greater resonance, while the classroom
studies give the students' 'doing' greater
contextualization. Consequently, students' understanding of
their learning is deepened and enriched within these EL courses.
NOTE: Students will take TWO Experiential Learning courses,
which are available in various parts of their four-year
curriculum: major courses, minor courses, BELL Core courses,
tool courses/technical requirements, and general electives.
Each of these two EL courses must be from a different category
of 'experiential learning. 'The six categories
are listed (with examples) under the link below entitled
'Examples of Experiential Learning
Courses.'
