Minor in Asian Studies

Many time students have majors in discipline areas they wish to keep, but a minor in Asian Studies can form a significant component and even a type of specialty for a major. Therefore, the Asian Studies Program offers an Asian Studies Minor consisting of 18 hours of Asian Studies coursework.

  • Students must complete intermediate collegiate level study or its equivalent in an Asian language.
  • Minors will choose courses from a wide range of area specific courses which have Asia as their driving focus and context.
  • It is recommended that Asian Studies minors participate in an approved study abroad experience. There are many ways to satisfy the study abroad experience requirement, ranging from participation on one of Belmont’s travel study programs, to the University’s semester or year long exchanges, to an experience through another institution in the U.S. or Asia with prior approval of the Director of Asian Studies.
