Visual Arts Scholarships
The Leu Scholarship Award
The generous support of Margaret and Franklin Leu made possible the construction of the Leu Center for the Visual Arts at Belmont University, and the creation of an endowed scholarship fund in honor of their son Franklin Russell Leu III. The scholarships are awarded annually to four promising first-year students. Each scholarship winner is awarded $2000 for four years for a total of $8,000.
A group of faculty from the Department of Art will review the portfolios received, or postmarked by, December 1. A small group of incoming students with the strongest portfolios will receive a letter no later than mid January inviting them to visit campus for an interview and portfolio review with members of the Department of Art faculty. This interview will take place on the Saturday of Academic Options Day. For this interview you must bring a suitable variety of works that illustrate your ability in art and/or design and be prepared to converse with the committee for approximately 30 minutes. A SKYPE interview may be arranged in lieu of travel is that is more convenient. The faculty will select the top four students from this interview process to receive the Leu Visual Arts Scholarship. If you have not submitted a portfolio, follow the portfolio instructions here.
The Admissions Office includes Leu Scholarship award announcements in the financial package award notification to scholarship winners. The Department of Art notifies all finalists as to their status in the awards process and will send certificates to the winners.
Please contact Office Manager Stacey Bryan at 615-460-6770 or email@example.com if you need further assistance. We also allow visiting students to sit in on classes.
