A Knoxville native, Monroe uses chalk, pastels and graphite to explore the historic and current practice of taking up serpents.

Christina Nuell: Laser Engravings

Nuell, a printmaking professor at MTSU, creates laser engraved prints that have a playful sense of improvisation by mixing imagery from the Victorian Era with images of technology.

Leu Art Gallery at the Lila D. Bunch Library
This exhibit will explore a wide range of American fine and decorative art objects from various collections of Belmont University Alumni. Included in the show will be furniture, silver, glass, textiles, paintings and prints. These pieces reflect American culture from the Colonial period to the end of the nineteenth century. The exhibition will demonstrate attempts to create a new American identity while still copying a European style. Some of the highlights of the show will be a Tennessee-made sugar chest and two rare Tennessee-made sugar boxes. The silver will span from Colonial silver beaker to a Tiffany Fried Chicken server. Examples of some of the earliest made American glass will also be shown.
