The relationship of the Painter to the work is intense, personal, and often a struggle, but the experience is [exciting] and very satisfying.
Prior to coming to Belmont in 1992 as the Chair of the Art Department, Jim Meaders taught painting for a total of 13 years in South Carolina, Georgia, and West Virginia. His work has been exhibited in both juried and one-artist exhibitions in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Utah, California, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, Missouri, and Tennessee.
He received two consecutive James Still Fellowships through the Faculty Scholars Program at the University of Kentucky and has received numerous awards and honors for his work since 1972. Jim stepped down as Chair in 2003 to go back to full-time teaching.
