Belmont University Towering Traditions New Student Orientation Programs are planned and facilitated by a dedicated group of students called the Orientation Council. This group of ten students share a desire to serve you during your transition to the Belmont community. They serve one full year and plan all the programs you will experience as a new student at Belmont. 

2015 Orientation Council Applications

The Orientation Council is comprised of two Student Directors and eight Orientation Assistants.  These executive level positions serve one full year starting in the October and ending the following September with Parent and Family Weekend.  Throughout the year they:

  • Implement, plan and execute orientation for over 1800+ new students
  • Recruit, select, hire, and train approximately 150+ Tower Team Leaders
  • Serve as the face of Belmont to countless parent and family members

Multiple Student Leadership Policy

As we aspire to be exceptional at engaging and educating students, the Division of Student Affairs believes that in order to maximize the students potential and to ensure the success of each organization, a student may hold only one concurrent executive leadership position, as defined by the Division of Student Affairs, at a time.  

Executive leadership positions as defined by the Division of Student Affairs include the following positions within the following organizations:

  • SGA (SGA)President, Vice President, Treasurer, Director of Campus Communication
  • Student Activities Programming Board (SAPB) President and Vice Presidents (2)
  • Orientation Council
  • Resident Assistants
  • IFC, NPC, NPHC Officers (President, VP & Secretary/Treasurer)
  • Fraternity & Sorority Chapter Presidents & Recruitment Chairs
  • Beaman Leadership Team
  • Towering Tradition Leaders

September 15-28: Online Application Open (September 28, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. Online Applications Due)  Complete Application  

  • Complete Essay Questions
  • List 3 References
  • Applications close Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 11:59 p.m.

September 30: Applicant Notification for Individual Interviews with Ben Lion, Director of New Student & Parent Programs

  • After an application review selected applicants will be contacted for individual interviews

October 1 OR 3 from 10am-10:50am - Info Session for selected applicants

  • Applicants selected for Individual Interviews attend ONE of the two information sessions
  • Ben Lion will email you location

October 6-24: Individual Interviews for selected applicants 

  • Selected applicants will sign up for an individual interview time at the Office of New Student and Parent Programs, Beaman Student Life Center Lobby room 127
  • Interviews will last one hour
  • Applicants are asked to bring a copy of their co-curricular transcript from BruinLink if available

October 31: Final Notification to all applicants

  • All Applicants will receive a final notification regarding their application
