Welcome Week

Welcome Week Logo

August 19-23, 2016

Welcome Week is a five-day program in August immediately before you begin classes. This time is designed to facilitate your ability to explore your passions and cultivate your talents; embrace everything the Belmont community has to offer you; and engage this place by seizing opportunities both in and out of the classroom.

Kick off your time at Belmont in the best way possible: alongside your peers. When you arrive in the fall, you’ll be placed in a Tower Team group (TT group). Each TT group consists of about 10-15 classmates and a TT Leader, an upperclassman leader who’s been trained to guide you through Welcome Week and your first semester at Belmont. Your TT Leader has been excitedly awaiting your arrival and will be a valuable resource to you as you embark on your unique journey here at Belmont.

Program Highlights

New student move-in takes place immediately before Welcome Week. New students will receive information and their move-in assignment directly from the Office of Residence Life.

While Welcome Week is chock-full of activities from Saturday night through Tuesday evening, check out some of the highlights listed below.

The President's and Trustees' Welcome

The President and Board of Trustees host a welcome for all new students and their families. During this event you'll enjoy a meal, music from Belmont student bands, and the kick-off to Becoming Belmont for new students.

Tower Jam and Meet Your Tower Team

The ultimate icebreaker for students! You don't want to miss this!

The Matriculation Ceremony

An annual gathering of staff, faculty, students and families to celebrate the heritage of Belmont University and our commitment to community, faith and learning.

Our annual community service event sends over 1,500 new students serving into the Nashville community.

Life Under The Tower

The spirit of Belmont comes together to "insure Belmont College of days more glorious and opportunities more abundant" during a candle light ceremony the evening before classes begin. (Quoted from the Founder's Day address by Chancellor, Dr. Herbert C. Gabhart, March 11, 1963)

All new students, first-year and transfers, need to check-in and will receive a schedule for the week, nametag, TT Group assignment, and new student t-shirt.

The Office of Residence Life will mail move-in packets to all new students who will be living on campus.  This packet enables the university to create an efficient and timely process to move in more than 1,500 new students in one day.  Please follow all directions in the packet.

Refer all questions regarding your move-in time assignment to the Office of Residence Life at 615-460-5802.

Parent Attendance

We invite all parents and family members to join us for welcome events.  We ask parents and family members plan their travel home by Sunday, Aug. 21 as students will begin attending required, student-only events that day.  As with Foundations, we do not provide parent and family accommodations so you will need to secure a weekend's stay at a nearby hotel if traveling from out of town.
