Jean Blank

Hello and welcome to Belmont!  I have been teaching at Belmont since 1993, starting as an adjunct clinical instructor in adult health and oncology nursing.  Currently, I am the course coordinator for Adult Health I teaching in the classroom, lab and clinical areas.  God's kingdom comes to us in surprising ways.   I was a volunteer candy striper at a local hospital and a friend’s father asked if I was going to pursue nursing in college.  That one question was all it took to put my heart and feet on a path. I entered college at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, gloriously wide eyed about my new endeavor.  Over time, it became very exciting see the changes in nursing as both I and my new found profession grew.   My nursing roots are in oncology nursing, which is where my heart is still pulled at times.  I obtained a master’s degree at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and began teaching nursing at a community college.  At Belmont, you’ll find a community of caring professionals committed to the success of launching new nursing careers.

I tell my students that you must use both your heart and your head in the nursing profession.  My patients have been my greatest teachers spiritually and emotionally.    Pursuing a nursing career over the past 30 years has provided challenges and rewards but mostly fulfillment in that I’ve been touched by so many people’s lives.
