Billy Contreras is a 30 year old fiddler from Nashville, Tennesee.
He has studied with Buddy Spicher and Rachel-Barton Pine. He teaches at Belmont University in Nashville. Billy has performed or recorded with Lionel Hampton, George Jones, Doc Severinsen, Hank Thompson, Hank Jones, Crystal Gayle, Grady Tate, Charlie Louvin, Al Grey, Ray Price, the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and The Nashville Symphony. He has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman Auditorium, The Bridgestone Arena, The Roxy, The Viper Room, The Kennedy Center, Farm Aid, Bonnaroo, Merlefest, CBS, CMT, and TNN. Billy is an artist, educator, session player, arranger and producer. He leads his own band that traverse an amalgam of styles including jazz, country, blues, western swing, rock and jam. His musical influences range from Frazier Moss to Olivier Messiaen and from Charles Lloyd to Bob Wills.
