Percussion Ensemble is comprised primarily of graduate and undergraduate percussion majors from the School of Music. The purpose of the ensemble is to provide students with an opportunity to explore the world of chamber music through modern percussion composition. Performance repertoire ranges from mainstream percussion ensemble standards to new compositions and premieres. Stylistically, the ensemble covers a wide range of material featuring compositions from classical, jazz, rock, and world music categories. The ensemble performs a full-length concert each semester in addition to selections on other Belmont concerts; the ensemble also performs off-campus.
Any student enrolled at Belmont who has a background in percussion performance and music-reading skills may audition. Percussion majors will be given first consideration in the audition process.
Rehearsals are held on Mondays from 2 - 3:50 p.m., and Fridays from 2 - 4:50 p.m. This course offers one hour of ensemble credit.
Music director: Dr. Christopher Norton, Belmont University. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Norton at 615-460-6987 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
